The QB shuffle is on. Just like in basketball, where player efficiency is often adjusted for strength of schedule, we’ve applied the same concept to rank quarterback transfers more accurately. Translating this approach to football is trickier. A quarterback’s performance depends heavily on the offensive line giving him time, the receivers making plays, and coaching schemes designed around him. Unlike basketball, where players have more freedom and influence over both ends of the court, quarterbacks operate within structured systems with limited room to improvise. Still, adjusting for schedule strength offers useful insight, even if it doesn’t capture rushing ability—passing remains the most critical skill in today’s offenses. We attempted this a couple years ago for the first time and have since refined the model. Here are our current QB transfer rankings, adjusted for SOS.
