Transfer Portal Power Rankings: Which Schools Have the Best Class So Far?

Full Transfer Ranking List and Updates here.

As of April 9th, roughly 350 of the 2,000+ players in the transfer portal have officially committed to new schools. While that’s only a fraction of the total pool, the quality of players already off the board is striking. Of the top 225 transfers in our statistical rankings — based purely on adjusted efficiency (ADJeff) — 103 have already committed, including 23 of the top 26 overall. In short, many of the best and most impactful players are already spoken for.

This early flurry has created a significant shift in the portal landscape. At this point, there simply aren’t that many high-level difference-makers left, barring a surprise wave of late entries — particularly among players currently expected to return to school. Unless more of those upper-tier names unexpectedly hit the portal, it will be very difficult for most programs to match or exceed the classes already assembled by the early movers without sheer volume.

This ranking also includes a few unique cases like Flory Bidunga, who briefly entered the portal before ultimately deciding to return to Kansas. His situation got dicey enough that we count him here. With many teams already landing multiple players from our top 225, now is the right time to evaluate which schools have built the strongest transfer classes so far. The following rankings are based solely on average ADJeff ratings of incoming transfers, offering a stats-first snapshot of who’s truly winning the portal battle to date.

Some schools have made a strong start with just one transfer commitment, but that commitment is a highly ranked impact player. While these classes are still in the early stages, landing a top-tier player can provide a strong foundation for further success in the portal and another add in our rankings will likely lift them into the top 25.
