Luka’s Legendary Game

The NBA has seen some historic games of late, but nothing to this level. Luka Don?i? turned in one of the greatest games in modern NBA history (1983 on) last night.

60 points, 21 rebounds, 10 assists, 2 steals, 1 block, 4 turnovers in 47 minutes on 31 floor shots.

This was an overtime game (so was Jordan’s), but that takes nothing away from the magnificence. We’ve fired up the Game Score, game rankings several times recently, but this is a game that goes down as a top 5 game of all time.

  1. Michael Jordan (64.6): 69 pts, 23-37 FG, 18 Reb, 6 Ast, 4 Stl
  2. Kobe Bryant (63.5): 81 pts, 28-46 FG, 18-20 FG, 3 Stl
  3. Karl Malone (60.2): 61 pts, 21-26 FG, 19-23 FT, 18 Reb
  4. James Harden (56.6): 60 pts, 10 Reb, 11 Ast, 17-18 FT, 4 Stl
  5. Luka Doncic (56.3): 60 pts, 21 Reb, 10 Ast, 21-31 FG, 16-22 FT

There was a David Thompson 73 point game that would have ranked ahead of it if you go back to 1978 unlike on sports reference.

David Thompson (57.0): 73 pts, 28-38 FG, 17-20 FT, 7 Reb

The point is this is easily one of the best games in NBA history. Wilt and some of the players from the 1960’s may have had some big games, but they didn’t feature this kind of efficiency or per-possession value. Doncic is 23 and not overly reliant on athleticism. The odds are he may never have another game like this, but this is probably only the beginning of his greatness as he’s not even reached his prime.
