It’s been another couple of weeks. Not many games have been played over the holidays since our last check-in, but there were a few significant losses for teams like UC-Irvine and Iona that requires some movement. We are just now starting to get a decent sample size for NET. It’s a consideration for me currently but no the end all be all when many mid-majors have played multiple non D1’s and might not even have 10 D1 games in the books yet. I’ve listed the NET, key wins and losses, and all teams I seriously considered. I find it most interesting St. Thomas was considered, considering they were just a D3 school 2 seasons ago. Utah Valley State even without Fardaws registered a big win vs Oregon that has gotten them noticed as well.
Here we define a mid-major and eligibility in these rankings as anyone, not in a top 10 Major Conference. There have been pretty distinct tiers in recent years developed both in money and average finish.
Power 6: Big 12, SEC, ACC, Big East, Big 10, Pac 12
Major: AAC, WCC, Atlantic 10, MWC
Mid Major: led by CUSA, MVC, CAA, WAC, MAAC, Big West, Sun Belt, SoCon, Horizon, MAC
There is a Low Major tier, but for our purposes, they will be included in these rankings.
